As we celebrate the arrival of Pastor Steve and Pastor Sarah, I want to pass along a gracious greeting we received from a member of Pr. Steve’s former congregation:
To the good folks at Bethesda, I just wanted to drop you a quick note to tell you how blessed you are on the recent calling of Pastor Steve and Pastor Sarah to your congregation. I am a member of Faith Lutheran in Rochelle, IL where Pastor Steve led our congregation for 7 years and I have nothing but the highest admiration for both Steve and Sarah. I’m certain you will quickly come to appreciates both of their talents and abilities. Steve has a great singing voice; he sang in the Augsburg Choir in college, and you will just love it. His one downside, while only 70 miles away from Chicago, was to continue to be a Green Bay Packer fan. He won’t switch to rooting for Seattle so don’t even try. With that I wish you all a Happy New Year and maybe my wife and I will come to visit your congregation sometime in the future.
