Caring Compassionately Through Church Community Service
Following the Risen One as a connected community inspires us to help anyone with care and compassion. Bethesda is a “roll-up-the-sleeves” church – we strive to feed, clothe, support, and guide where there is need through church community service. We are also a “roll-out-the-saints” church – we send missionaries near and far to share the hope that is found in Jesus Christ. Discover more about our local and global involvement and join the cause!
At Bethesda, we believe that grace is instrumental – grace comes TO us so that it might move THROUGH us, for the blessing of others. We cherish our longstanding connections with the Bethel-Danebo neighborhood and school district. We value and support many social service organizations throughout the city and greater Eugene-Springfield area.
Bethesda hosts, provides support, and maintains relationships with the following local organizations:
Did you know:
- Every 2 seconds, someone in the United States needs blood.
- One donation can help multiple people in need.
- Blood donations can help trauma victims, cancer patients, and those with other illnesses.
Throughout the year, the Bloodmobile stops by Bethesda. You have the opportunity to sign-up to donate blood via the sign-up sheet in the office. The next date is December 13th, 2:00 – 7:00pm.

We believe that God has called us to be a mission community that spreads the good news of God’s love to all people, whether they live across the street or across the ocean.
Our benevolence giving through our denominational affiliate, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, also goes largely towards mission support, domestically and globally. We also support Lutheran World Relief, rated A+ by Newsweek as one of the best international relief agencies.
We strive to help all of our neighbors, whether they are next door or overseas. Please keep Bethesda’s Global Missionaries in your prayers:
- Keith & Laura, overseas
- Scott & Vicki, in Portland
- Tim & Naomi, in Portland
- Jerry & Kathy, Stateside & planning
- Aaron & Liz, in Germany
First names only are used above as many are in areas where security is a high priority. If you have more questions about our missionaries, please contact the church office. Pray for these workers and their areas of mission and the nationals with whom they work. Pray that Christ will be made known in their communities and bring joy and freedom to those He loves.
