Come to Church

We’re glad you’re here. We appreciate the opportunity to let you know a little bit more about us. Bethesda Lutheran Church is a member of the largest Lutheran denomination in the country, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Perhaps you haven’t “done Lutheran” before, but I think we can summarize the Lutheran flavor in two words: Grace and Service.

We believe that grace is the heart of the Jesus Story.

We believe that service is the hands of the Jesus Story.

Our hope is that Bethesda would be a place with a heartbeat of grace and the handiwork of service to all.

What can I expect when I come on Sunday morning?

Bethesda has a good buzz and our hope is you feel right at home. You can expect to be greeted several times between the front door and the sanctuary. There are volunteers with large nametags ready to answer any questions and point you in the right direction.

We believe one of our strengths is the variety of worship styles. At 8:30, you can expect a liturgical service rooted in our Lutheran heritage. At 11:00, you can expect a more informal service that blends a relaxed liturgy with modern praise songs and rearrangements of classic hymns.

Between services at 9:45 we offer classes for all ages, 3 and up. There are often multiple offerings for adults – typically one introductory-type class like a Bible 101 or “Bethesda Connect” overview of the Lutheran Christian faith, and one topical or Bible-study class.

We love young people at Bethesda. From Cradle to Commencement, this is a great place to be a kid! Childcare is available all morning, but we also believe children are one of God’s greatest gifts and any sounds they want to make during worship are music to God’s ears (if not always to their parents’ ears!)
