Summer Programs & Camps
Summer is a great time to be at Bethesda, especially if you’re a kid! We have so many summer programs and camps for children of all ages. In addition, our worship hours change slightly, and we have some annual events that roll around every summer. Check it out below.

Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is a week long day camp, usually at the beginning of July, for our littlest of kids (Kindergarten through 4th grade). Each morning, all children gather together in the sanctuary, where they sing songs, jump for joy, and hear about Jesus’ love for them. They then split into small groups and go to various stations, where they: listen to Bible Stories, watch videos about real kids who are unique and loved by God, eat tasty snacks, play crazy games, and participate in some amazing science experiments. They all then meet together in a large group again, where parents, grandparents and caregivers can hear about the day’s learnings and experiences. Each year, VBS, has a new, fun theme! Registration information and other details for this, and other summer programs, come a little closer to summer. View photos from VBS 2017.
WildKids Day Camp
WildKids Day Camp is for kids entering 5th/6th grade the following fall season and is often held during the same time as Vacation Bible School. Also like VBS, it’s a week long day camp filled with fun activities. Each day, kids get together to go on a new adventure! In the past, adventures have included: Honeyman State Park in Florence, Camp Lutherwood in Cheshire, Spencer’s Butte, Putter’s, and more! It’s a great way for kids to stay active, meet friends, and get out of the house during the summer. Registration information and other details will be available closer to the time of the camp.
Middle School Confirmation & High School Trips
Every summer, Middle School and High School students go on two different trips. These trips are hits every year, and have had some great destinations in the past. The Middle School group has gone to a music festival in Washington, Seattle, and more. In Summer 2016, the High Schoolers went on a hiking, climbing, and rafting trip in different spots throughout Oregon! They’ve also gone on trips to the coast, and more exciting adventures. Every year brings a new destination and new memories to make! Don’t miss registration for these awesome summer programs.
Save the Date: High School Summer Raft/Camp Trip, August 5-9
Every summer, we set out a weekend in the schedule for a camping trip for the whole family! We reserve spots at a campground, usually Sutton Lake in Florence, OR. The whole family is invited for camping trip with our Bethesda community! If parents are unable to attend, transportation can be set up for your youth to attend.
Annual Garage Sale
Our annual Garage Sale is a great way to do some summer cleaning and organizing! During the start of the summer, we ask our Bethesda community to donate gently used items. During a weekend in August, we hold a Garage Sale, open to the public, to help raise money for the church. It’s a great fundraiser, and is always a fun time to spend together. Worship in the Park
On beautiful summer days here in Oregon, we like to soak up the sun as much as we can! Two Sundays during the summer, we take our worship hour outside. After our services, we have a BBQ outside with all of our friends and family, with games and music and other fun summer activities. Worship with us!
Our annual outdoor service & BBQ will be August 27th at 10am, followed by a potluck and BBQ (we bring the BBQ, you bring the pots and luck!) Look for more information to come in the Sunday blue sheets and e-news. But save the date because this is an event not to be missed.
