Two World War II memorial bronze plates were discovered as stolen from our memorial park. The plates include the church’s name, and contain the names of dozens of veterans from Bethesda, including some who were killed in action. The memorial was installed over 75 years ago.

News Coverage Near and Far

When we posted about it on social media, many friends and neighbors shared it and very soon, the Register Guard and local tv stations picked the story up. Since then, it’s also been seen on national news outlets.

Fund Established

On top of that, a generous member of our community, Todd Jensen, who is a family member of one of the fallen heroes on the stolen plaques, has stepped forward to establish a fund at Selco to help recover or replace the plaques.

The “Bethesda World War II Memorial Fund” has been created to collect donations that will either go toward a reward for their return or the cost of new plaques, if needed. Todd generously started the fund with a $500 donation, and any additional support is deeply appreciated. For those wishing to donate online instead, we’ve added a fund to our online donation form here: https:// bethesdalutheranchurch.com/church-donations/

God is good. Always.

We are truly grateful for our neighbors, families, and friends who have reached out with support, encouragement, and generosity during this time. Your kindness reminds us just how strong this community is.

Thank you for being part of this effort—we are blessed by your care.

God bless our veterans, their families and their memory.
