Advent & Christmas at Bethesda
Let Bethesda be your second home during the advent and Christmas season.
You are welcome to every single thing we do here! Come to one event or many! You will be welcome with open arms. We want this to be a wonderful time for inviting friends, family, and guests to be a part of Advent. The Advent Season encourages us to contemplate how we can ready our hearts and households for the arrival of Christ in our contemporary world. During this period, we will come together to reflect on the genuine significance of Jesus’ birth through prayer, thoughtful moments, uplifting music, and acts of kindness.
Advent begins in late November or early December! During the season, we’ll post our current schedule to this page. However, we hold many of the same traditions each year including:
- Beginning the first Wednesday of Advent, we will hold mid-week services, called Holden Evening Prayer Service. This is a half-hour service of song to celebrate the Advent season. It is beautiful, peaceful, and a wonderful way to center during the busy weeks of December.
- Every year, we host a giving tree for local Bethel families that are recommended to us by our neighborhood schools.
- The first Saturday of December, we hold a women’s advent brunch.
- We will hold at least one Christmas Eve service, which is a candlelight service.
- We will also have a service on Christmas Day morning.
- A service of Lessons and Carols is held the Sunday after Christmas.
We will need volunteers throughout the season to help with services and activities. Contact the office if you are interested in helping!
